Qasr Al Hosn is Abu Dhabi’s oldest stone building, begun as a watchtower in 1761 to guard the city’s only freshwater well and later expanded into the royal residence of the ruling Al Nahyan family. Following a decade-long conservation project, it reopened in 2018 as a museum and cultural site.

The restored white-rendered walls now sit inside a wider modern complex that includes the Cultural Foundation, the House of Artisans and the Abu Dhabi Children’s Library, run by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism.
