Gatwick Airport station underwent a £53m redevelopment to relieve a long-standing bottleneck on the Brighton main line, adding a new 12-car platform, a widened concourse and new escalators and lifts — all delivered without disrupting normal airport and station operations.
Delivered by VolkerFitzpatrick for Network Rail and Gatwick Airport Limited, the works were completed in February 2014. A further £250m upgrade of the station was completed in November 2023 as part of Gatwick’s wider capital investment programme.
