Manchester Airport’s £1.3 billion Transformation Programme has rebuilt Terminal 2 around its existing footprint, more than doubling its size in a first phase completed in 2021 and then refurbishing the original 30-year-old terminal building to match in a second phase.
Delivered for Manchester Airports Group by Laing O’Rourke and Mace, the airport continued operating throughout — at one point transferring the UK’s largest airport building from a secure airside environment to landside and back again mid-construction, all without interrupting live flights. The programme completed in 2025.
