Manchester City’s £300 million expansion of the Etihad Stadium’s North Stand adds a third tier and around 7,900 seats, taking the stadium’s capacity past 60,000 and making it the fourth-largest club ground in England.
The project, delivered by John Sisk & Son, required removing two of the stadium’s original roof-supporting backstay masts and carrying out a series of carefully sequenced load transfers to shift the weight of the existing roof onto new permanent steelwork. The expanded stand — renamed the Pep Guardiola Stand — opened in May 2026.
