Everton’s new 52,888-seat stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock replaced Goodison Park after more than two decades of false starts, built inside a former commercial dock whose Grade II-listed granite retaining walls were preserved throughout construction. Some 480,000m³ of sand was used to infill the dock and create stable ground for the bowl.
Designed by Meis Architects with BDP Pattern and built by Laing O’Rourke, the stadium’s brick base echoes Archibald Leitch’s latticework at Goodison Park, while its steel-and-glass roof is assembled from trusses up to 170 metres long. The stadium opened for the 2025-26 season and will host UEFA Euro 2028 fixtures.
